Pōneke Planters Group
Kia ora! We’re Inner-City Wellington – the residents’ group for the folks living in ‘our patch’ – Te Aro and Wellington Central.
And we love plants!
But most of us live in apartment buildings and we don’t have gardens where we can dig into the soil and plant flowers & veggies & things.
So … we’ve created the Pōneke Planters group to help residents, and the Council, explore opportunities for planting things in the inner-city.
We need your help.
Could you help us garden an inner-city planter box ?
For example, like these beautiful Bond Street planter boxes that are gardened and cared for by a local apartment building resident.
And these planter boxes in Allen and Blair Streets - planted and looked after by another apartment-building local resident!
So ….
Do you have green fingers?
Are you keen to help bring beautiful flowers and plants to your part of the inner-city?
Contact us and together let’s see if we can make something happen!

WHERE ARE THE PLANTER BOXES?
_______
Blair & Allen Street
Our first project happened
in the side streets off
Courtenay Place.
The planter boxes were provided by the Council together with some of the plants.
Local inner-city residents did the rest! And we continue to keep them tended and loved.
Bond Street
A wonderful local resident helps
to keep these planter boxes
flourishing in Bond Street.
Egmont Street
Just arrived!
The work has just started
by a local resident and
ICW’s gardeners to bring
these planter boxes to life.
Kent Terrace
These planter boxes arrived
around the time of the Avatar
premiere from the Council.
The folks at the Capitol
Restaurant and Deluxe Cafe
keep them watered
ICW’s gardeners have
snuck in some flowers for
the city’s bees and butterflies
to discover.
