Let’s Do data
Data tells a story. It provides a starting point for informed discussions.
For example - ‘our patch’ story
(data from Census 2023)
Inner-city Wellington has a much younger population than New Zealand as a whole. The median age is just 28.8 years in Te Aro and 26.4 years in Wellington Central, compared with 38.1 years nationally.
More than half of residents in both suburbs are aged 15–29, making young adults the dominant age group, while children and older people make up only a small share of the population.
