Our 15th Founding Day celebration - Thursday 7 December 2023

What we love about Wellington
We held our 15th Founding Day anniversary (aka birthday party) in St Peter’s Church on 7 December. Over 70 people RSVP’d and we had a great time. The children of Arohanui Strings played, our guest speaker Dave Armstrong spoke, and our Gratitude Awardee, Michael Person - who had become a new Dad just days before - came along to tell us more about his work with community gardens. And then we had cake!

Thank you to everyone who joined us - including the ICW team who helped make magic behind the scenes - for making the evening a wonderful celebration.

You can watch the recording of the event here, and see pictures from the evening here.

Our 14th Founding Day celebration - Wednesday 7 December 2022

Imagineering the Future
We celebrated our 14th anniversary this year at St Peter’s Church. This year we thought about how ‘our patch’ - Te Aro/Wellington Central - has changed over the years - and what it might become in its near and far future!

Our patch is home to over 125 apartment buildings. So that means many of us are living in vertical streets, up in the sky. Our Founding Day birthday celebration enabled us to do some reflecting on how our patch has changed over the years and some imagineering about what the future might hold for our unique part of the city.

MAYOR TORY WHANAU
joined us talk about the city’s plan for the future.

ROLL OF HONOUR:
SHONA BUTTERFIELD

We also took the opportunity to thank retiring Committee member, Shona Butterfield, for her extensive body of work for ICW over the years.

GRATITUDE AWARD:
THE DREAM GIRLS ART COLLECTIVE

We were delighted to award this creative group of artists for their wonderful murals enlivening the city

GRATITUDE AWARD:
THE MOORE FAMILY

And we also said thank you for this local business for their commitment to ‘our patch’ for so many years.
