ICW PROJECT: be a ‘Clean-up Crew’ for your building or street?

We’ve had a thought.

We have over 125 apartment buildings in the inner-city. If some residents in each apartment building became a ‘Clean-Up Crew’ - deciding to keep the immediate area of their building clear of litter - what an amazing difference that could make.

We think some folks might like to do this, but perhaps don’t have the equipment to get started.

The good news is we might be able to help!
We have some free Clean-Up Crew kits we could supply to get you started - a pair of gloves, a pickup stick, a hi-viz vests and a bucket! (We can provide more than one set if you have a group interested!)

So if your apartment building would like to create a Clean-up Crew, let us know!

2024 UPDATE - Clean-up Crews now operating in

  • College Street, Frederick Street, Alpha Street, Furness Lane, Alfred Street and more.
But we never have enough, so gather up yourself or a group to be a Clean Up Crew for the inner-city!

Wellington City Council - Draft District Plan

  • The Council’s Spatial Plan informed the draft District Plan. In October 2020, we provided this submission with our feedback, ideas and suggestions.

  • ICW believes that  a regulated maximum population density per hectare for a mesh block is essential so that monitoring could ensure consent is not given to any new build or conversion that would result in that maximum being exceeded. The following presentation is a sample of current mesh block population density levels in Te Aro which are already unacceptably high in relation to the inadequate infrastructure, and critical lack of green space and amenities provided in the area.
