Enrolled so you can vote in the local council election? if not - here's some info & deadlines

Some useful info & dates to know

The local elections are postal - in other words, you receive paper copies to fill in and post back.

If you’re on the electoral roll, you can vote in the local elections where you live.

You can enrol if you’re 18 or older, a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and have lived in New Zealand for more than one year continuously at some time in your life.

  • If you enrol by midnight 12 August, they’ll mail you your voting papers.

  • If you enrol or update after 12 August, you can request special voting papers from your local council’s electoral officer.

  • The last day to enrol to vote in the local elections is Friday 7 October.

Don’t leave it too late - it’s your city, so voting is a way you can help shape it.
